HISTORY
Founded in April 1964, by partners João António and Ilidia Pereira, Transportes Central Pombalense began its activities with a share capital of ‘€ 250’, with 1 vehicle and its headquarters in Meirinhas – Pombal.
In December 1972, with four vehicles, all branded Scania, its capital increased to €5,000.
With the dynamic and careful management of its members, they have achieved a level of growth that can be considered remarkable, with a definitive implantation in the Road Goods market in Portugal.
In 1984, with 17 vehicles, the share capital was increased to €75,000 and with the intention of introducing a new dynamic, it was divided into 6 shares, bringing in four new partners, the children of the company’s founders.
Renewed by the new members and their strength in the structure of the new administration, they decided to develop their International Transport activity, as they had been doing since 1979, although not on a regular basis.
By 1994, they had a fleet of 87 vehicles and their share capital had risen to €798,076.64.
The practice gained over 39 years of providing transportation services has been very useful and has recently enabled them to offer new types of services to their clients, such as:
- Transport of Fuels in bulk;
- Warehousing, Logistics, Distribution.
In 2000, a reorganization and reconstruction procedure of the internal company services was started and it went through the implantation of a Quality Management System, that contributed in a decisive form to the pursuit of the objectives of customers’ satisfaction and to the creation of service and synergy dynamics, which are the motor of the Excellence of all services rendered by Transportes Central Pombalense.
In 2003, the company is certified by the NP EN ISO 9001 – version 2000, having the continuous improvement as basis of all the activities developed internal and externally.
In 2004, the enterprise creates its French delegation in Bordeaux, in view to give a better attendance to existent clients and to have a better evolution in the French market.
In 2006, trying to have a better and concise precision about maintenance costs, the group creates in 2003 a new enterprise Orpom that treats all fleet reparation and needs.
In beginning of 2006, Transportes Central Pombalense obtained a new qualification certificate by EIC for 3 years more.
In 2012, Transportes Central Pombalense obtained a new renovation ok the communitarian’s license for 5 years more.
In 2014, Transportes Central Pombalense had completed 50 years of existence, ensuring the continued engagement with all who contributed to the success and growth of the company.
In 2016, the company relocated its Maia branch, increasing its storage capacity to around 7,100 m2.
In 2017, it opened a subsidiary in Labenne to bring the area closer to its customers.
In 2018 we reinforced our fleet renewal with 70 more efficient trucks (ecological footprint).
In 2019 it acquired 6 LNG vehicles for a greener world.
It has closed its Bordeaux branch.
In 2020 acquisition of a 4000 m2 customs warehouse in Maia.
In 2021, the fleet will be renewed with another 40 more efficient trucks.
Currently, the vehicle fleet at headquarters is being expanded.
Also this year, the company renewed its certificate of compliance with the standard, switching to the 2015 version.
